Our 2017 Leominster Wedding Expo

Attending A Wedding Expo

Another successful show weekend in the books. On January 29th we traveled to Leominster, Ma where we set up shop for another expo at the DoubleTree by Hilton. After having a crazy weekend a few weeks before at our January 9th Twin River expo, the team and vendors were excited for this smaller scaled show. Vendors had a one day setup which meant all hands on deck bright and early Sunday morning. That being said, huge thank you to the DoubleTree staff for making our expo go off without a hitch. This DoubleTree location underwent a huge renovation a few years ago, and it had guests oohing and aahing as they walked into registration.

Gray's Limo

Lines started to form around 10:45 and once our show doors opened at 11 it was planning time. A Touch of Class DJ’s and Gray’s Limousine were the first booths guests saw as they walked in, and they were not disappointed. Take a look at this fun bar table Gray’s brought. A Touch of Class grabbed guests attention with their “magic mirror”. Along with the selfie taking mirror, A Touch of Class provides anything and everything when it comes to entertainment. Lighting, video displays, photo novelties, photography/videography and more! The staff at A Touch of Class will make your wedding day come alive and will cater to any need. Learn more about their services at http://www.atocweddings.com

As guests walked further down the hallway they were treated with some popular veteran vendors including Aunty Ellen’s Creative Confections and Windmill Florist. Aunty Ellen’s always brings a crowd with her tiered free cupcake display and a wide variety of decorated cakes. One thing that separates Aunty Ellen’s from the rest is how versatile she can make any cake. Whether you want something traditional in style, a cake for the groom, or something that’ll suit dietary restrictions, the team at Aunty Ellen’s does it all!

A few booths down was Windmill Florist, but guests could see them from across the venue! Beautiful blooms in all colors, styles and sizes brought in quite the crowd. Windmill Florist also designed all the arrangements in our fashion show, in case you saw any boutonnieres or bouquets modeled.

Our veteran vendors always bring in the crowds, but some of our new vendors were just as much of a hit! Jak’s Initial Loft was exhibiting with us for the first time, but brides were definitely raving about their products. Jak’s Initial Loft will personalize and monogram anything from clothes, accessories, jewelry and more. They showcased some of their monogrammed bride and bridesmaids silk robes which make for a great gift to wear on your wedding day. Follow them on Facebook to see some more detailed work.

Our January 8th Expo Was a Hit!

Attending A Wedding Expo, Wedding Day Preparations

As we reflect on our past show we want to first off thank all of our vendors, staff and guests who made our first appearance at Twin River in January a hit! Despite the oh so nerve wracking snowstorm the day before, our team and vendors pulled together a great show. The Original Wedding Expo exhibits at the Twin River Casino Events Center every November and April, but with holiday engagements becoming more and more popular, we thought it was perfect timing to add another show. If you got snowed in the other weekend and couldn’t attend here’s a recap from our January 8th show:
Luke Renchan Entertainment had his “magical mirror” all set up bright and early. This mirror is something you must have at your wedding! If you want to stray away from the traditional photo booth this selfie taking mirror is your next best bet. You can adjust the color settings to match your wedding color palette and pictures just take seconds to print so your guests can take a fun momento home with them to remember your wedding day. Check out Luke Renchan’s website to learn more http://lukesent.com/

We believe all of our vendors bring their absolute best presentations to our expos but here are some that truly knocked our socks off. The Renaissance Boston Patriot Place Hotel has been a regular exhibitor with us and we love seeing how they change up their booth motif every expo. This past November they opted for more of a woodlands theme reception setup whereas this show they used peacock feathers as inspiration. Peacocks you say? Sounds a little strange but they had guests “oohing and ahhing” over their decor. They had us stunned!

Katelyn Webb Beauty is another one of our vendors who always catches the ladies eyes. Katelyn and her team bring full on glitz and glam to every expo with their booth decor and incredible makeup skills. They provide wedding day makeup services, hair, lashes and more! Guests can even get their makeup done as a trial run while at the expo. Check out their beautiful work at http://www.katelynwbeauty.com/

For the crazy weather we had that weekend, each aisle was filled with eager wedding planning couples. Every booth seemed packed but our booth hit of the day goes to Scrumptions, Inc. Intricately designed cakes lined their booth tables and guests were raving about how delicious their cake was. Who doesn’t love free cake?

Cake Shop Cafe booth

After a successful turnout at our November 6th Twin River show we wanted to take the time to feature one of our newest exhibitors. Cake Shop Cafe, based out of Millbury, Massachusetts was exhibiting with us for the first time and guests couldn’t get enough of their booth! Cake Shop Cafe’s booth was set up in the first aisle of the venue and stirred up quite the crowd with their decadent treats. Cupcakes, cookies, cakes and cake pops lined the tables and rustic chic motifs and chalkboard signs added a nice decorative touch. We sat down with Cake Shop Cafe to see how their first Original Wedding Expo went and check out what they had to say!

“Fantastic!  The process from beginning to end was easy and stress free.  The staff of the Original Wedding Expo were always extremely responsive which was especially comforting being a first time exhibitor”.

The Original Wedding Expo is thrilled with the experience and services Cake Shop Cafe brings to our guests. If you missed them at the expo, here’s a little background about the company and how they can make your wedding day or event a special one!

Gifts to the Bridesmaid

It’s tradition for the Bride to give her bridesmaids/ wedding party a gift to either wear during the wedding day or a small gesture that shows your gratitude for helping you plan the big day. Finding that special something can be tricky so we set out to find some unique gifts your girls will truly love! We pulled together some gifts that your bridesmaids will find not only thoughtful but purposeful as well!

Gift your bridesmaids with a fun activity all of you can partake in! Sur La Table cooking classes are a great option. You can choose from either hands on or demonstration formatted classes, or even create your own class! Both a fun way to bond with your girlfriends and learn some new recipes to cook for the soon to be hubby!  Killing two birds with one stone with this gift.

After months and months of wedding hype your friends may want a little pick me up to feel that zing of excitement for the big day! A unique way to do this is by gifting her a monthly subscription box! Two of our favorites? Birchbox and FabFitFun. Whether she loves fitness, beauty fashion, or a combination of all three, these monthly boxes will be a pleasant surprise!

Birchbox is a fun way for your bride to sample new beauty products. Each month a box will be shipped to her home and she will receive a variety of beauty samples to try and learn more about. The service will allow her to sample new brands, beauty technology, and find what works best for her. Order a subscription at https://www.birchbox.com/

FabFitFun is a great subscription box option for any bridesmaid who loves fitness, fashion and beauty! The team at FabFitFun sent us over their Fall 2016 box and could not imagine a bridesmaid not loving this gift. Inside their Fall 2016 edition was a trendy blanket scarf, beauty samples, fitness gear, coloring book, travel coffee mug and more. The FabFitFun box is a seasonal subscription so by gifting a year for a bridesmaid would be a fun little surprise for her to open up! To learn more about FabFitFun and order a box for your gal pal…or yourself, you can find them at https://www.fabfitfun.com

Last but not least, what girl doesn’t love jewelry?! We partnered with Defiant by Design a popular yet unique jewelry shop on etsy. The twist? Owners Lauren and Hilary create hand stamped jewelry with attitude. These bracelets are perfect for bridesmaids because you can hand pick which saying is fitting for which friend! One of our favorites was the “slay the day and then rosé ”. Check out their Etsy shop to find which saying fits your bridesmaids the best! https://www.etsy.com/shop/DefiantXDesign\

5 Bachelorette party themes/ideas

Wedding Day Preparations

Bachelorette Party Themes

Grab the girls, throw on some heels, and pop the champagne because it’s time to celebrate. After months of planning there’s nothing more a soon to be bride is excited for than celebrating her soon to be nuptials with her closest gal pals. A bachelorette party should be a night out on the town like no other but how can you as the maid of honor make it a night to remember? Here’s 5 ways to spice up the festivities!

  1. Winter Wedding? Plan a comfy flannel themed weekend getaway at a Ski Resort. Living in New England these types of trips are a must. Onthesnow.com is a great resource to utilize. The site provides you with weather conditions/updates, lodging information, activities in the area, pricing, and more! So cozy up by the fire, set up a spiked hot chocolate bar, and throw in some of your fave movies!
  2. Have a fun photoshoot to remember the night/weekend. Harvest paper company on Etsy made great Bachelorette party mugshot signs. Photoshoots like these provide a twist on the traditional bachelorette party and leave everyone with a fun memento to remember the night! Order them here
  3.  LWD. Have all the bridesmaids and maid of honor wear traditional little black dresses while the bride to be braves the night in a LWD!
  4. Being that Halloween is right around the corner this idea will come in handy for the very soon to be brides! Have the wedding party dress up in red dresses with red horns and the bride in all white with an angel halo. Adds a fun twist on the LBD/LWD scenario. Or if Halloween is the bride’s favorite holiday have every guest dress up in a costume, make vampire inspired drinks like one of our Nearby Nuptial couples did for their halloween themed wedding. Halloween Themed Cocktails
  5. Winery weekend! Book a trip for the whole squad to take a trip to your local vineyard. Spend the day taking tours, learning about the winery and of course test tasting! Local to New England? In our Fall 2015 Bride & Groom issue we featured some of the top wineries in the area. Read more on which wineries were our top picks!

Bachelorette parties are not necessarily the traditional “go out for drinks and hire a stripper” anymore. Bridal parties are now switching things up and finding unconventional ways to celebrate your friend’s big day. Dare to be a little different, the soon to be bride will appreciate the effort and uniqueness!
